A year or so ago I bought measuring cups for dry goods from WalMart, suckered in by the bright plastic colours. Lovely as the green and red cups are, the handles have been snapping off of each, one by one over the past months. It REALLY annoys me when I buy something that I plan on keeping and using for a long time. Sure, it only costs a few more bucks to replace the set, but it angers me that they should be so disposable. As if we don't have enough junk floating around the world. So I've been searching the second hand stores for months now, hoping to find a set of stainless steel measuring cups, a set someone else had already found a place for in their kitchen, a set that would last a little longer than 2 years. No luck, until yesterday -there they were, sitting on a shelf in the MCC in all their shining glory. I couldn't help but let out a cry of delight for finding EXACTLY what I'd been searching for.
