Every year I am excited to plant a garden (even when I lived in the city and my garden space was about 3ft x 4ft), but this year I am about to burst from anticipation. After reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, I am eager to plant heirloom variety plants, and to explore varieties of vegetables that we don't get to buy in the store. Along with Russian Blue potatoes (coulnd't find the Peruvian ones) and Green Zebra tomatoes, I'll be growing such things as Alaskan Sweetheart potatoes (pink inside!), Red corn that you can make popping corn from, Shungiku (edible chrysanthemums), Black beans (yum! Black bean burgers made from MY beans), Flamme tomatoes, Brown Berry tomatoes... I can't wait.
