Side note: Another woman I know is almost annoyingly green, always seemingly making sure to mention what green and sustainable thing she is doing at that very moment. I had to catch my annoyance, however, because I too enjoy tallying up the list of virtuous and environmentally conscious things I try to do, if only to try and convince myself that I am not being bad to the earth.
So, not trying to honk my own horn about how righteously green I am, but also revelling in my continued efforts to be more sustainable, I thought I'd share this new thing I've been using the last few weeks. Every night I remove my make-up, using those little disposable cotton pads, and despite their smallness, it bothers me that I'm using and throwing out something that I don't really need to. I kept meaning to sew some nice little soft squares of fabric that I could use and wash and re-use, but laziness and busy-ness have prevent this. On one of my many Etsy browsings, I came across these lovely crocheted circles, made for this very purpose. It really didn't hurt that they were so beautifully photographed. I purchased some from three different places and I love them all. I keep the used ones in a zippered mesh bag so I can throw them in the washing machine along with my towels, without them getting lost in the mix.
And yes, I do realize that I am addicted to Etsy.
